Shekinah Family Ministries was founded in 2001 as a church and educational network restoring the first century cultural context to the Gospel that includes restoration of Hebraic apostolic foundations of the faith, inter-cultural relationships of honor, the value and dignity of both male and female in all stages of life, and flourishing, resilient families. Jim and Robin Brashear were both originally mentored and ordained by an international ministry with a strong emphasis on these principles in 2001. Their current affiliation is with Indigenous Messengers International, since 2008. Ministry has taken many forms with mentorship of military veteran families, a weekly radio show, modeling and networking home-based congregations in multiple states among diverse cultures, keynote speaking at family conferences, consultation, and mediation in congregational response to abuse. SFM advocates for awareness of the negative impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), domestic violence, and misogyny in faith-based communities. As Jesus/Yahshua said, “In the beginning, it was not so…”

The Brashear family has been recently deeply impacted by these issues, bringing personal expertise and passion for the safety of women and children and promotion of resilience following trauma. Jim is currently unable to function in his previous capacity, thus Robin Brashear recently retired from her registered nursing position at Nimiipuu Health and has assumed leadership of Shekinah Family Ministries, with the blessing of their board and Indigenous Messengers International. The Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) tribal family remains close to their hearts; Robin continues to reside on the reservation where the family has lived for many years. SFM joined the Lewis Clark Valley Resilience Coalition where Robin was appointed to the board as treasurer in 2022; LCVRC is a coalition of over 250 professional agencies in seven central Idaho and eastern Washington counties which addresses ACEs and fosters resilience. A new SFM website is in the works, reflecting the whirlwind of change experienced in the past few years. Email contact for Robin is info@prepareandpray.com
